Apollo 11 40th Anniversary Collectible
On July 20th 1969, the crew of NASA’s Apollo 11 made history, becoming the first manned spaceflight to land on the moon.
Launched on July 16, 1969, the space craft carried Commander Neil A. Armstrong, Command Pilot Michael A. Collins and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin.
On July 20th, at 4:18 pm EST, while the entire world held it’s breath, the lunar landing craft named Eagle 1 safely touched down. Several hours later, Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to stand on the moon while Collins orbited above. That was 40 years ago.
To honor this great event, we have created the Limited Edition AG 7 – 40 LE Space Pen, an exceptionally rare collectible that offers ownership of an actual artifact from the Apollo 11 Space Craft. The artifact is “Kapton” foil. It served as a protective thermal insulation for the Command module
Columbia. Our archives housed a portion of this rare, fully authenticated, space flown material. We hand cut and floated a piece of this moon shot artifact in a water-clear acrylic dome and sealed it into the cap of our specially designed pen. The pen is based upon the historic AG-7 model invented by our company’s founder, Paul C. Fisher in 1966 for use in space by NASA astronauts. The Limited Edition model is distinguished with a black titanium nitride finish complemented with fine engravings plated with 24 karat gold. The engravings include the visage of an astronaut planting the American flag into the lunar surface, the astronaut’s names, anniversary dates and the individual serial number for each of the 1,000 issues.
Each AG7-40LE is packaged in a jewelry quality case designed to display your collectible. The iconic photo of Neil Armstrong’s first step on the moon is replicated in a resin casting of the footprint inset into the hinged cover. An innovative magnetic pedestal allows the pen to sit on its own “launch pad” for display when the case is closed. The story continues on the sides of the case, on a band of plated stainless steel engraved with a timeline that tells the moment-by-moment story of the mission’s key events, from launch to splashdown. Certificates of authentication are included with each pen.
Since 1968, the AG-7 Space Pen, featuring the famous Fisher sealed and pressurized anti-gravity ink cartridge has been issued to astronauts for NASA manned space flights and is still used today. Now this anniversary edition, created to honor the 40th anniversary of the moon landing provides the opportunity for collectors of rare object to own an authentic artifact from what will always be recognized as one of mankind’s greatest moments.
